[First attempt went a funny colour and said 'Unapproved'. Never seen that before but I assume it was because it included a link to YouTube so I removed the link.]

[Nope, that failed too so I'll try removing the names. Last try!]

I just happened to be playing the Feldman video on YouTube and noticed the comments (below). It is salutary to note how - away from the forums - 'real' people have no problem seeing Maybrick as the Whitechapel fiend and that they are not even vaguely concerned about stating it. What is it about the forums that seems to prevent ordinary people from voicing their opinions regarding the potential authenticity of the scrapbook?

    I just can't think ...

I had the book in 1992 and lent it out to never have it returned. I bought another copy last week. Good fun reading it again and reading up on all the testing and resarch that has been done on it. People say it’s a forgery, but I can’t find the explanations or proof of this.

Oh, come on. Seriously? The diary came from someone with the knowledge of forging documents like this, with advanced knowledge of the paper and ink. Mike Barrett himself eventually admitted it was forged.

Wonder if he was arrested for that forgery?

Still got my original copy too. Its makes a great read, whether invested in its reality or not. Definitely an easier read than Brahm Stokers diary anyway.

This has convinced me, Maybrick is Jack the Ripper

I have the book and have read the evidence and believe it is quite real.I also think it is a story that echoes to the future And may even shut some light into the reasons.Serial killers became more and more profound and common in our society... But I absolutely believe the book is real.

Michael Barrett just happened to be really friendly with a retired print worker. Exactly the type of person who could've made a forged diary with the proper paper and ink. It might've been cool, but I'd rather take the word of Sir Robert Anderson and Israel Schwartz. It was Kosminski.

He lied about that. He never got it from the print worker. The diary was found in James Maybricks house.

The Diary is still not written by James Maybrick.

Funny that you should reply first Wheato - I genuinely did wonder if the two comments below (from the same person) were from you?

What do you think makes us here on the Casebook so much more knowledgeable than those whose reading of the scrapbook tale is - contrarily - so much more positive than around these here parts?

PS I've just noticed the first comment. Unless this person had a sneak view, they first 'had' the book in 1993 or later ...
