Is that what he looked like in the asylum?

No straitjacket to prevent any further murders?

      That’s an illustrator’s imagining from around 1993.

I assume that researchers have hunted for a genuine picture of Kosminski, amongst the asylum records or family records, without success?

Hi Martyn, I recall years ago there was a bit of excitement when one researcher (my fallible memory tells me that his name might have been King?) thought that he’d found a photograph of Koz in the asylum records but it came to nothing. I wouldn’t hold out much hope now but you never know. As long as Kosminski’s diary doesn’t show up.
          Regards

          Sir Herlock Sholmes.

Hi Herlock, cheers for that. Or, er, his shawl!

Who knows what secrets those old asylum floorboards hold...

Well, it apparently was 'his shawl' as he'd 'marked his territory ' as it were...

Yeah, or even a family photo somewhere. Unlikely perhaps but you never know. There could be photos around that contain unknown people and one of those could be ripper-related. I love those old Victorian street scene photos because there’s always a possibility that one of the men in the crowd was John Pizer or Joe Barnett or Louis Diemschitz or that one of the women might have been Mrs Fiddymont or Fanny Mortimer on her way to the shop.
