  • Kosminski's Dog

There was a sort of breakthrough discovery discussed on Casebook before the crash regarding reports of Kosminski's appearance in court charged with walking an unmuzzled dog in Cheapside in the City of London. I can't remember who found and posted this originally but I, and I'm sure many others, would like to see this again.

That's the "Kozminski's Brother" thread, already recovered:

The dog part starts on page 2, but unfortunately the news reports were uploaded as images and didn't survive in the Google cache. Hopefully they will be reposted at some point.

For convenience, here are the Lloyd's, Times and City Press reports.

      CITY POLICE SUMMONS COURT.
      SATURDAY.
[Before Alderman Sir POLYDORE DE KEYSER.]
THE RABIES ORDER. - [Others cases reported.] AARON KOSMUNSKI also appeared to a summons for having a dog unmuzzled in Cheapside. When spoken to by the police he gave a wrong name and address. Defendant: I goes by the name of Abrahams sometimes, because Kosmunski is hard to spell. (Laughter.) The defendant called his brother, who corroborated that part of the evidence which related to his name. The Alderman said he would have to pay a fine of 10s., and costs. Defendant: I cannot pay; the dog belongs to Jacobs; it is not mine. The Alderman: It was in your charge, and you must pay the fine, and if you have no goods on which to distrain you will have to go to prison for seven days.

        Thanks Dan

But those recovered threads don't make for easy reading and I reckoned it would be best to start again on this subject which should have had its own thread in the first place.
