  • Trev,

I need to get away from you and the rest of your muppet fraternity.

Do, please, leave. Several days ago you vowed to leave and and not return but your compulsion to constantly display your ignorance clearly holds sway and you keep coming back, the better to make a fool of yourself.

    Don.

Oh, come on Trevor, your comments have been sarcastic, condescending and goodness knows what else, long before Paul (or anybody else) copped the needle with you.

      • Sorry to bring it down folks. I felt the need, and I don't want to see the good people driven away from the site. Paul has been really welcome here and with he and Stewart and Martin Fido doing a lot of posting recently... well, I don't want to lose that.

There's no truth in some of the things you post Trevor. Just desperate accusations.

              However, it promotes.

                Hello gentlemen,

I will only add what I think few will deny; namely, that clever Trevor has thicker skin than the most grizzled Triceratops of the Cretaceous period and cohunes of a size that would make Tyrannosaurus Rex cower in shame…

                  Trevor,

There are children in my school who develop their reasoning in more organised ways than you managed in the quotation given above, and to be fair half of them would have a better crack at the spelling and punctuation, too.

                  A little bit of analysis:

On the BBC, staring into the unblinking eye of the lens, you can say what you like, with relatively little comeback ... but plainly you put quite limited value on the conversion of the viewing public to your point of view, preferring the transient (but guaranteed) emotional effects of the flare of publicity to the potentially greater intellectual rewards (but greater attendant risks) of genuine scrutiny. So it's us, remarkably, whom you feel you need to convince - hence the adrenaline which surges through your fight-or-flight posts. The imprimatur of the community appears to be, for you, the hallmark of success, and it means, also, acceptance by your peers. That's what you want, I think. And despite all the recent brouhaha in various other corners of these boards, Casebook remains quite an open church, with differences of opinion being tolerated and respected probably much, much more often than not. So acceptance is, in theory, a possibility within these walls. But your anxiety to be accepted appears to prevent you from interacting in a managed and measured way, and you end up in the situations you do. I think other readers will agree that you're not the first to exhibit this panicky, instinctive behaviour on the boards, and you won't be the last. And it may not be the right time yet to apologise to those you've mistreated. But perhaps you would like to think about how you can marry your goals with your methods, and, when you've managed that, you may just find that liberal old Ripperology is still here, and ready to listen again.

                  Just my point of view.

                  • Hi All,

The Victorian novelist George Eliot observed that "A patronizing disposition always has its meaner side."

                    Regards,

                    Simon

                    • Hi Simon,

Am I fielding that one? Because I thought I was being supercilious, not patronising. Unless I wasn't, but I am now.

                      Regards,

                      Mark

                        • Hi Mark,

                          No, not in particular.

But no matter what you want to call it [the two words are synonymous], for my taste there's too much going around at the moment from people who should be above such things.

                          Regards,

                          Simon

                              • Despite the manner in which Trevor sets forth his views,he is correct in stating that an identification has never been proven to have taken place, and in consequence,Kosminski has never been identified as being a killer.I also believe that.
