Woolf's Luck

Hi chaps,

Not content with being best mates with dear old Klosowski, and getting rather a rough time from the Whitechapel prostitutes at the time of the Whitechapel murders, I think this might be Woolf Levisohn mixed up in a third case. He never seems to keep appropriate company, does he?

Fascinating, Mark... "You robbed a woman in Poland before you came over here", Levisohn claims to have said to the defendant. "How do you know?", he's asked. "Because I know", Levisohn replies. Comes across as a bit "knowing" and sanctimonious, even in 1890, doesn't he?

Incidentally, I wonder if the Greenfield Street mentioned in that case is the same Greenfield Street where Klosowski lived with Lucie Baderski around 1890. Looks like it might be.

Oh, I don't know, Lynn. In Levisohn's own words, with my underlining:

Kancrovitch said [to me, Levisohn], "Whatever you do, don't come to my place". I [Levisohn] said, "Mr. Kancrovitch, I have known you twenty years, and never wished to come into your place". I did not want to go in because he is too low. I sold him razors, but I should not make acquaintance with him because I am more honest.
