As a point of clarification, a person suffering delusions such that they lose touch with reality is not necessarily sociopathic – which itself is a relatively new term generally used to describe a psychopath harbouring malicious or criminal intent to others. The personality type that you are describing is a psychotic. And, whatever his real identity, Jack the Ripper could not have exercised such a high degree of control over his victims and crime scene venues had he been psychotic.

Dont forget Robert Napper,the serial murderer of Rachel Nickel , Samantha Bisset and her daughter is a fantasist who believes himself to be a famous person and a time traveller etc.
As far as I can understand it, Severin Klosowski was certainly a fantasist.He insisted to the police and court at his trial for murder, that he was George Chapman and that he did not know "this other man klosowski".He added that he had been born in America.He had also posed as an American earlier on,displaying the stars and stripes in his public houses and had boasted of being a big game hunter and of his exploits at sea.Even in Hastings he was telling people that his boat "the Mosquito" in which he and his wife almost drowned,had sailed to France-which it had not.
He certainly took risks latterly when he boasted to Maud"s sister, as Maud lay dying ,that if he wanted he could "give her a bit just like that" and he snapped his fingers for further emphasis,"and 50 doctors would not find out".
He also engaged in some unusual behaviour especially for those times,wanting to have a "menage a Trois" with his Polish wife and mother of his children and his pregnant girl friend.In Hastings with Mary Spink he ran a very odd barber shop which specialised in "musical shaves"---he shaved the customer while Mary played the piano and sang music hall songs.Meanwhile he was posing as manager of a Pianoforte shop with another girl he was dating , while planning to murder Mary with poison he was obtaining from their local chemist.

now now Sam-----he was stealthily arranging for her removal by poison while these jolly duets were going on ---so just like Macavity he was the monster of depravity!
