After the Whitechapel murders James Kelly went to France - not to the U.S. He returned to London after a few years in France and then, later, went to New York (initially).
From there he went to all sorts of cities in the U.S. including Philadelphia, Baltimore, New Orleans, Houston, Galveston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, etc. In virtually all of those various U.S. cities there were gruesome murders of women that the local newspapers suggested, in various article, a connection to the Jack the Ripper murders. This is NOT coincidence.
Secondly, when he did finally "escape" to the United States he used the alias of JOHN Miller - not James Miller, as someone incorrectly wrote here. He purposely used that alias of JOHN Miller because, as the Discovery Channel progam pointed out, it was a very common name held by literally THOUSANDS of men who had emigrated to the U.S.
Third, there were three more murders in London that were committed prior to the alleged beginning of the Jack the Ripper/Whitechapel murders. Those three earlier London murders could very easily have been the early work of Jack the Ripper.
Fourth, when he murdered his first victim in the U.S. he carved the Roman numeral number ten ( an X ) in the body of his victim. If you count his wife as his first victim and then include the three early London murders, which are not generally attributed to Jack the Ripper, and the five Jack the Ripper murders in London that ARE attributed to him, then his first victim in the U.S. would be his TENTH murder.
While in the United States there were, at LEAST, 12 murders committed in lots of cities in the United States where it was suggested that there might be a link to Jack the Ripper due to the brutality of the murders. And James Kelly was (according to his own confession) in ALL of those U.S. cities when he was in the U.S.
As far as I'm concerned, he WAS the Ripper. No doubt about it in my mind. Case closed.
