1 in the 1861 census at 76 Radcliffe Street Name age relationship to head married M or unmarried Un, birthplace
Theresa Kelly 52 Head M, Chatham Brompton
Theresa Jenkins 20 Daughter M, Isle of Man
Sarah Kelly 17 Daughter Un, Altrincham
Amelia Wilson 23 Niece Un, Ireland
James Jenkins 1 Grandson __, Preston

This could be James Kelly, listed as Jenkins. Sarah Kelly is his mother

2 is the Apr 12, 1870 marriage of John Allan, Master Mariner to Sarah Kelly, Spinster at St Chrysostom Church, Aubrey Street

3 in the 1871 census at 100 Phythian Street
Head : Sarah Allen, married, aged 28. Mariner's wife, husband at sea. Born Broadheath, Cheshire *
Mother : Teresa Kelly, widow, aged 63. Independent. Born Broughton Cheshire *
Alice Peels, unmarried, aged 16. Domestic servant. Born Rock Ferry, Cheshire

      * Broadheath is next door to Altrincham * Broughton Cheshire is probably correct, not Chatham Bromptom which is on the Medway, Kent

4 is where his mother Sarah died July 29, 1874 at 10 Walker Street, Low-Hill. John Allan had died May 16th in Peru

5 – in the meantime, James Kelly left school at age 13 (1873) and was apprenticed to Ray & Miles Upholsterers, 34, 36 & 39 London Road E approx. 1 mile in the direction of the arrow

James Kelly was then sent to Hurworth’s Commercial Academy across the Mersey at New Brighton to learn office skills

6 after two years of training in book-keeping, James Kelly was hired by Isaac Jones, Pawnbroker at 102 West Derby Road

7 No. 49 Fielding Street, where James Kelly lived while working for the pawnbroker. His last address before he moved to London after his grandmother Theresa died in 1876. By the terms of his mother Sarah’s will, he had access to ¼ of his inheritance at that time.

Thank you Robert L for assistance, - Roy
