Trawling the Old Bailey Archives I came across this 1909 case of a latter day Mr Astrakhan who got clobbered and robbed in Commercial Street. Lots of familiar place names are mentioned here and (interestingly) one of the assailants is nicknamed 'Long' because of his tallness.
