      John

As I said previously the poster from 2008 who was banned was a man, so it was not Sophie as far as anyone knows.
I feel it is unfair to suggest she was with out any evidence to support that idea, and she is not involved in this messageboard .

Who the poster was, and he was most unpleasant, we cannot know.

      back on topic, please

        Steve's right!
That person isn't Sophie, it was a male supporter of her, called himself "strong" or "she strong" > HER-FORT!

Sorry for disappointing you there, John!

          couldn't agree more Jeff,

          very surreal last hour.

looks like John G has a crush on that Sophie.-- just joking John.

now is there anything serious to discuss on this thread before I go out.

Ah, yes, but his English was very poor. Whereas, "Pierre's"... And, of course, unlike Sophie/ "Pierre" he didn't claim to have several degrees. No! You're right, of course, obviously just wild speculation on my part!

Damn! And I thought I was disguising it as well as Pierre's theory! Perhaps just wishful thinking on my part!

Hmmm, Herfort - Her Fort! Ah that's it, a female disciple of Charles Fort, and Lo! we have someone who believes 'tis better to discuss why it was reported that it was raining fish or cats or something like that, rather than discussing valuable information.

Thanks for the tip of the new MJK thread.

Valuable information? You tell me what's valuable about Pierre's research?

Monty has mentioned DS Thick, can you please name your policemen suspects as all I have found is poets, authors, lunatics, doctors (quacks or otherwise) and merchant seamen.

I googled Monty and first on the list was a thread in Casebook about Cliques and cartels in Ripperology, Pierre you are going to love this

Btw from this thread and this other one

Monty is Neil Bell author of Capturing Jack the Ripper: In the boots of a Bobby in Victorian London

However jokes aside, I'm looking forward to Monty's new book.

"Neil Bell is one of the most respected students of the Ripper case. He has been published extensively in specialist journals such as Ripperologist and Casebook Examiner, as well as for the BBC. Neil has written numerous articles upon the case and was the runner-up for the Jeremy Beadle Prize for the year’s best articles featured in Ripperologist magazine in 2009 and 2010. Neil has also recently been Police Advisor for the Channel Five documentary Jack the Ripper: The Definitive Story. He has provided information for the TV series Ripper Street."

I still think Pierre is doing original research, as on the subject of PC Jack he has moved the subject forward.

                        Hi Whitechapel,

OK. Well, we will see. I think there are a lot of advantages that any police official would have if he was a serial killer. So I hope that those of you who think it is an hypothesis that would be of any interest to discuss are feeling free to discuss this, in spite of what you think about me.

The idea of PC Jack might be old but isn't that what a cold case review is about ? In my research on other things, not JTR, I can think the subject is dead and then discover something new and revolutionise it. I think love him or hate him (Marmite), Pierre is taking the subject to a new level.

And I think that people here have a lot of knowledge that could be very interesting to discuss on that level. They might not be academics but then again I am not a ripperologist. So there could be a fruitful discussion.

Pierre doesn't have a background in ripperology but that has its advantages and disadvantages as yes he is going to stumble into old rehearsed debates but on the other hand he is looking at it with fresh eyes and might come up with something new to move the subject forward.

Perhaps one good thing is that I have not invested in any knowledge about the case. I have nothing to loose. No prestige; nothing.

An excellent post by Craig H, listing likely PC Jack candidates. I have a degree but I don't really care where the ideas come from. There is such a limited database, that the only way of moving the subject forward is to broaden the number of people working on it.

My view is that like Sutcliffe, JTR was missed. He is there in the documentary sources and as much as he seemed like a ghost, he was regularly making mistakes and that the policemen interviewed him at least once. I think that explains why there was a gap in his monthly cycle as he laid low for a while. Also Israel Schwartz identified Elizabeth Stride and felt that JTR was still in the yard due to the behaviour of his pony.

I donīt think he was. Horses become scared from the smell of blood, so this would be a sufficient explanation. The idea that he was still in the yard probably comes from the idea that he was interrupted. Maybe someone would like to look into this? I have always thought that he was not interrupted and now the letter which I call The Ripper Letter also could be corroborating that.

However both PC Smith and Schwartz describe men that they saw talking to Stride but none of them were dressed as policemen. Over to you Pierre.

Thanks, Whitechapel. Well, I donīt think he would have been seen by witnesses this night and the reason is that he changed his MO after the mistake he made with killing and mutilating Polly Nichols on the street.
                        Kind regards, Pierre
