Hi Chris- your direction on name has merit. When I researched my own grandparents who fled Poland in 1906 and made it to the USA their names on documents were spelled many different ways. It was frustrating until I found my grandfathers signature in 1912. We could never find our grandmother's signature or correct name spelling.
The point I am making is that finding Polish immigration information is very difficult. Nothing would surprise me on it. Growing up in a Polish and Ukrainian community South of Baltimore I learned that these Russian cintrolled Countries had similar cultures but different identification in spelling. Polish specific names for example ended in " ski" where Russian, Hungarian and others in " sky". I dont know if this helps but I grew up in this environment and would stand by it. It was different depending on where they were truly from.
Best of luck. Cheers
