  • Favoured Suspect...

    Hi all

Just wanted to touch base and get a general picture of the Status Quo...

    Question...

Do you have a favoured suspect, or are you on the fence?

It would be interesting to see what percentage of members have a suspect they favour and those who don't have one.

I have several that I believe could be the Ripper, but overall I would say that I don't have a favoured suspect.

Francis Thompson makes for a good favoured suspect for me.

Pretty much Druitt, Kosminski, Bury, Kelly or an as yet unnamed killer.

What i love, is that those of you who've commented thus far are all brilliant individuals with a considerable amount of knowledge and understanding of the case as a whole...

            ...and yet...

There are already multiple favoured suspects.

I think that can only be a good thing, because it proves that the case still has room for progression and development, even after all this time.

Keep those favoured (or not favoured) suspects coming

i dont have a single favored suspect. I tend to rank them by viability or as i like to say.. least weak, as I think all the ripper suspects are weak.

in my first tier of least weak:
Bury, hutch, chapman, kelly, koz, druitt, lech

and the rest, if not proven ruled out like ostrog,or ridiculous supects like maybrick, van gogh or royal conspiracy types, I remain open mined and consider suspects like Barnett, richardson, puckridge, jacob levy, francis thompson, donston, tumblty etc. as possible, although i admit many of these ones are real long shots.

of unnamed suspects, i think blotchy is up there. im also highly intrigued by the bethnal green botherer. and of course peaked cap man, who was undoubtedly the ripper.

pretty much agree with this list except the unnamed killer. his name is probably out there, weve heard it before. either as a suspect a witness or some peripheral character, like a Crow or goldstein.

Unnamed, Blotchy Face/or Kosminski. In that order. More than likely it is someone we don't know, so I go with that first. Blotchy Face, the man seen by Cox, seems the most likely killer of MJK and thus the most likely killer of the rest. Whether he is Kosminski or not I don't know. Kosminski seems the most suitable out of any of the named suspects imo.

Surely Blotchy Face is likely to be a heavy drinker someone like Bury rather than Kosminski.

I think that the Ripper very well could have been someone that we don't know about or someone that a witness has described but whose name we don't know. But for me to consider someone a suspect, I feel he needs to be someone that can be identified by name. I agree with Abby that all of the named suspects are weak, but I think William Bury is less weak than the other named suspects. So I'd put him in the top tier by himself. In my 2nd tier are Jacob Levy, George Chapman, David Cohen, James Kelly, George Hutchinson, Charles le Grand, Aaron Kosminski, and Frederick Deeming. In my 3rd tier are Thomas Cutbush, Hyam Hyams, Montague Druitt, Albert Bachert, Edward Buckley, and Oswald Puckridge.
