Are you aware that McCarthy and Abberline were both Masons?

Abberline was a member of The Zetland 511 Lodge and McCarthy a member of the King’s Head lodge.

Thanks for that information Trevor. Do you know if Reid was a Mason. That might explain why McCarthy asked for him when he went to the police station.

    Cheers, George

      I’m getting worried now Geddy.

        Hi George,

It looks like Littlechild was a Mason too but, although I haven’t read the full thread on here and going on faulty memory wasn’t there some doubt as to when Abberline joined?

Here SuspectZero posts the record of their initiation but when I enlarge the picture it becomes unreadable so I can’t quote from it.

I think it's possible that she would have had enough to share with pimp, provided that the pimp didn't demand very much. But I think that the explanation that you gave in another post for why he didn't evict her is far more likely. In that area, there would have been many renters that had trouble coming up with the money, so he might not have wanted to evict someone unless he was fairly confident that he could get a new renter that would be more reliable.

I'm not sure if he was also a Mason; i would need to recheck my notes.

But Reid and Mccarthy did have something in common; they were both theatrical. Both men were actors and singers to varying degrees.

Reid and Mccarthy even attended the same public events and one could say they were acquaintances.

Another actor was Charles Reeves of WVC fame.

And Lusk renovated and built theatres.

            The theatrical links are there.

I have always believed that Kelly was an actress and singer, and that her entire story as told to Barnett was a fabrication; she played the part.

Her true identity may have been known to the likes of Mccarthy and it wouldn't surprise me if Kelly was related to Mccarthy in some way; which may explain him showing her some leniency when her rent was long overdue (relatively speaking)

To find the real MJK, I would start with the theatre.

Rookie, this is a really interesting take. Can I ask what lead you to this?

Lusk was a builder/developer of buildings. I'm not sure if he had any prolonged connection to the theatre. I think he was mailed half the kidney because he was the Chairman of the Vigilance Committee. Where did you get the information that Lusk and Reid attended the same public events?

I was referring to Mccarthy and Reid having attended the same events, not Lusk.

But with regards to Lusk, here is one of many examples of the theatre renovations he was involved with...

                    From January 1884...

Lusk, Reeves, Mccarthy, Reid...they were all involved with the theatres, including several others.

I think Lusk was sent the Kidney; not because of the WVC, but because the man who sent it used to work for him as a builder/stone mason when Lusk renovated theatres and various other buildings.

But Lusk had also worked for the Board of Works, and so a Navvy is also a possibility; hence why the Pinchin Street torso being deposited in the entrance to the Board of Works Stone Yard, the Whitehall torso being deposited under the stone arch in the cellar of the former Opera House (that then became the New Scotland Yard building) and the Salamanca Alley torso being dumped virtually outside the Doulton's factory that dealt in stone work.
Elizabeth Jackson was also seen talking with a man who was described as looking like a "Navvy"
Navvy's were civil service builders who worked on the railways and canals in particular.
The exact kind of people who Lusk would have been involved with during his time as both a renovator and at the Board of Works.

                    The connections are there.
