John Douglas´ Profile

I wonder how many sexual serial killers had "mother issues?" Three that immediately come to mind are Ted Bundy (whose mother lied to him and passed as his sister for years), Ed Kemper (whose mother became his penultimate victim, putting it in the nicest way that I can) and Ed Gein (who went whacky after she died).

Hello Cuervo,
First of all, welcome to the forums
Second I agree with pretty much everything SSA John E. Douglas said in his Criminal Investigative Analysis. It was thorough and well done.
Though many will refute this because many hold their opinion above those of experience with these kinds of killers.

John Douglas´ Profile
Hi everyone,
I would like to start a discussion about John Douglas´ profile of Jack the Ripper.
Here is some of it:
The Ripper was an opportunistic killer: He preyed on alcoholic prostitutes because they were easy targets. Douglas also believed that the Ripper committed other crimes which were never definitively attributed to him. Jack was a lust killer, meaning that the focus of his ritual mutilations was the female genitalia. This doesn't mean the murders were sexual; there's no evidence the Ripper engaged in sex with his victims before or after their murders (although the agent believes Jack frequented prostitutes). Rather, the mutilations suggest that he was acting out violent fantasies aimed toward his mother. His mother likely provided the image Jack had of women, one which he came to despise. She may have been an alcoholic -- and possibly a prostitute herself.
I totally agree with the fact that he was a lust murderer and from the area, but... I´m not that sure about the stuff about the mother, think it well may be hate about the mother or towards some kind of women, the sexually active that he could not get or he despised. Or, who knows, maybe there was no any hatred at all, maybe there was just a sadistic way of sexual arousal mixed with some canibalistic attraction?
