My candidate right from the start has been a a perfect nobody, that none of us has ever been thinking of. Yes, including me!
If so, what kind of a person he (or possibly she) could have been?
The least one can say, that the moody people of the East End at the height of The Autumn of Terror wouldn't have let a transvestite go unnoticed.
Why do I say this? Because this - to my knowledge - has been a suggestion by Arthur Conan Doyle.
