Nobody knows who the murderer referred to as 'Jack the Ripper' actually was...the crimes have never been solved.

The name 'Jack the Ripper' was almost certainly created by the Press to stimulate interest and therefore their sales. It was first seen on a letter sent to the Central News Agency (not the Police) however the letter is not thought to have been genuinely from the murderer, but, as i say, a ploy by the Press to sell newspapers.

Jack was a common name and is used to denote an unknown male in a variety of sayings, such as Jack of all trades, Master of none.

okay so i was trying to do some research to find out his real name and/or who he was and some people said his name was really jack but some people was saying its not.

i have a feeling it was jack other wise where would they have got 'jack the ripper' from if his name wasnt jack, correct me if im wrong please
