Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but was Cutbush kept in a lunatic asylum for life? I can't remember having read what his specific sentence was. But if so, why? 'All' he did was stab two (three?) young women in the arse or thereabouts. I don't understand why they would deem him so dangerous that he'd be incarcerated as a lunatic for the rest of his days.

I don't think he was the Ripper at all, but at the same time I'm curious to know if the authorities or whatever kept him in an asylum under the belief that he may have been saucy Jacky, given the reports about him.

Then again, this was in a time where jacking off was believed to be a root of insanity, so I shouldn't be too surprised as to why Cutbush would be handed such a harsh penalty for his somewhat pervy assaults.
