Not sure if this will work (without a bit of fiddling) but load this page, you may have to click on 'view' then click on the map from Alberta St, Kennington then scroll down to map view and click on 'wizard' in bottom right corner, and then watch 'Jack' stroll to his haunts in about 43 minutes....

If it doesn't work or the session has expired then start a new journey search between the addresses Alberta St and Aldgate or the Minories. You will need to deselect all the bus, boat, tram and train options and select the maximum walking speed with a 60 minute upper limit....

I suspect 43 minutes would be nothing to walk in those days, it takes longer than that by train for me....
