This story is getting a remarkable amount of press coverage. Here's another (quite good) short article from The Independent.

Interesting articles, thanks for posting. Weirdly, each article is one year out on his date of birth. It was June 29th 1865.

I must say, he seems to have died rather suddenly. Bodily health reported bad, dies same day.

        Blimey, that IS bad.

He probably fell down the stairs, Robert.

I hope someone is going to look at Reginald Traherne Bassett Saunderson
          's Broadmoor file as well?

Yes good idea Cap'n Jack and it would also be good to look into James Kelly more, even though it is highly unlikely he was the Ripper.

            Besr regards

            Adam
            Best regards,

                Hi John

I have spoken at length this evening about he files which seem to have considerable interest but nothing fundermentally new. Clearly his relatives thought him innocent? of the crimes he was committed for.

Thank you for Richards links..my captain my captain.

However clearly the Pivot of the JtR investigation was 1991?

                Yours Jeff

                PS nothing on James Kelly

                  Hello everyone,

While checking out the above link, my Anti-Virus set off an alert. It seems that the page that link sends you to has a Trojan/worm embedded in the HTML code. Someone has set up a nice little trap. Lyn and I are now running full anti-virus scans on every computer in the household LAN. I thought I should post a warning before someone else steps into this.

I owe Richard Jones of Jack the Ripper Tours an apology for assuming that just because the Trojan/virus first appeared while I was on his website, then *that* was where I picked it up. Richard has been running his webpages through several different anti-virus scanners and the site comes up clean on every scan. I must have picked up the virus on some other site and it lurked in my computer until I coincidentally visited Ripper Tours. It would have shown up at that particular moment in time, no matter what website I was viewing.

Richard has also been quite helpful in providing me with reference pages on the virus, and methods to rid my system of same. My computer is now virus-free, and Lyn's appears to be free of it as well. (Sigh - 'twas quite a scare there for a couple of days.)

Richard, I'm sorry I leaped to the mistaken conclusion that a hacker had infected your website. I do hope that I didn't cost you any business. And thank you most kindly for all your help!

                        Hi Dan

Because of what you said, I too said on the Broadmoor Archives Finally Open thread that the site had a virus....which it doesn't....so sorry from me too, Richard.

Sorry I thought I had - but I'D missed the last page, then corrected/deleted and was about to email you back.
                          Appreciate the quick action though!
