My Mutt just ignores the "Dog whistle".

There are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe that which is true.

To be fair, he could just have been looking at me and wondering why I was stupid enough to be blowing down a silver stick.

I have a replica police whistle someone brought me back as a souvenir in the 1970s or 80s, and I can tell from looking at these antique ones that the general design hasn't changed! Interesting to see the pics, thank you all for sharing them.

The address indicates a late 1888 - 1909 make. Can I ask, is there a serial number on it?

Curious to know what the serial number on the whistles will tell us?

Is it possible we could get an audio recording of one of these whistles being blown?

Here's what the London Police Whistle sounds like.

Here's another video with a selection of whistles of the same design, and how thy sound.

Thanks again, Jon. Hearing that sound is like momentarily jumping back in time.

A friend of mine just gave me a Metropolitan Police whistle allegedly from the 1880's as a belated 50th birthday present.

I am terribly excited about it and tried to post a picture of it here, but I just keep getting error messages whenever I try to upload it.

Does anyone know if there is currently an issue with the upload function or is it more likely my knackered old phone?

                    Any ideas?

Try the copy-paste method, it seems to work, ok.

                          Thanks Wick!

I still can't seem to get it to work though on my phone for some reason.

I'll try to do it next time I'm on my laptop

                            Thanks Herlock!

It was actually back in January, but I'm still in shock at hitting the big 5-0.

It feels like yesterday I was turning 21, and I'm really not sure where the intervening years have gone!

I know how you feel. How can it be that I’m 60 in December and yet I was 35 just 5 years ago.

The weird thing is that it’s only been this year that I’ve never had so many aches and pains and twinges.
