For any that carry out census searches, you may know that tracing entries by address is comparatively easy for 1881 (via Ancestry) or 1901 (via 1901 Census Online) but for 1891 it can be a nightmare.
The best source are the Descriptions of Enumeration Districts.
For each enumeration district there was a covering sheet on which the enumerator listed in detail the streets covered in that district. Whilst not ideal it can help to narrow a search down. I am transcribing these for my own use to cover the Whitechapel, Spitalfields and Aldgate area. I thought others may find these of use so the first one (Spitalfields) is below
