    A Walk Around Mitre Square

This is fantastic! There should be NO MORE DEBATE as to what PC was where, viewing what. It's all moot.

You practically had to trip over Eddowes' body before you saw her. The PCs' bulldog lantern lights didn't penetrate the blackness until you were within 5 to 10 feet of the body.

And as for escape, Jack had the massive odds. He could melt back into that darkness and still be within feet of a copper. Jack was smiling at that.

No more debatdeneeded as per PC street beat placement or walkiwalkines or Jack worrying about said. Of all the Whitechapel murder mysteries, seeing in the night is NOT one.

This is a mic drop moment. Pure and simple.

Thanks, But it's just one interpretation. We've no way of really knowing how strong or weak those gas lamps were in the square. Also, the night sky would help/hinder depending on moonshine and cloud cover. Also the bullseye (yes got it right that time) lantern's strength/darkness penetration. But it's a good demonstration of how the square and lighting might have looked.

      I get you. Totally.
But we know those street gas lamps did not give off much light. I read somewhere the equivalent of a fridge light today.
On Sept 30th, according to weather charts on this forum, the Whitechapel area was under 50% cloud cover.
According to nineplanets website, it was a Waning Crescent moon.
You don't need to be an astrophysicist to know that data equals crappy lighting.
The soot covered/dark brick of the buildings would absorb light, not reflect it, as well.

I think your demo proves that to debate what PC was where is a waste of time.

      Jack had the advantage. Guaranteed.
