That so famous photo of Dutfield's Yard ?

    Hello All,
just wandering on the ancient statas of this forum, found old conversations about an unseen pict of Dutfield's Yad bought on eBay by Mr Hutchinson: as it was in late 2008, and the purpose of a book publication was on, what's up now ? Has this peculiar picture surfaced ? Has it been published ?
    Thank's

Yes, Gene - both book and photo are out since long. "The Jack the Ripper Location Photographs: Dutfield's Yard and the Whitby Collection" is what you are looking for. Amazon will provide it.

    The best,

You would not find it on the net, no. If you do, I΄d be much surprised... The books a nice little addition to Ripper photoland though.

I would definitely advise getting this book, it's by far may favourite Ripper-related read.

As well as getting to see the sought-after picture, the story about its background and the investigation into its history is thoroughly enjoyable.

Thank you DGB, I was on Amazon.com looking for it...
The pict on the cover is Hanbury St backyard ?

It's actually an amalgam of the DY photo and Hanbury St. The chap on the right, and the gate with him is from the DY photo.

The only way to see the full photo is to buy the book.

So the gate of Dutfield's Yard was an iron gate ? I thought it was made out wooden planks with a small door in it ?

                          Gene Lewis:

It WAS, Gene. But things change. On the famous "ghost photo" taken in 1909 - and accessible on the photo section on these boards - you can see that the wooden gates are gone and replaced by an iron gate.

                          Fisherman

"Ghost photo" ? Do you mean the pict showing the angle of Berner and Fairclough, with the cartwheel on the wall close to Dutfield's Yard ? Why is it "ghostly" ?
