  • Police evidence still in archive?

    Hi all,

Another amateur, rookie question I’m sure, but can’t find the answer in search bar and am curious, especially in light of this questionable “shawl” evidence.

I know that the Met have refused to release the ledgers relating to the investigation, and that many documents have been lost. But I wondered about the actual evidence? Objects, possessions, clothes, anything that they may have collected at the time? I know the belongings of the victims and other items of interested were listed in records, but what actually happened to them? Were they all disposed of? Returned to the family? Buried with the victims? Or do the police still have some of these stored away in archive? I know after all these years they’d hold little value forensics wise, but am still curious as to if these objects still exist somewhere? Thanks
