  • Geomapping profiling

Geomapping profiling suggests JTR lived in the area where he committed the crimes - now i'm inclined to believe this and therefore this would rule out a good % of what i feel are way too many suspects in the first place.
However, i would be curious to hear what other's think-is the Geomapping profiling flawed on unreliable?
We're standing alone inside the night
    listen the wind is calling
to the dangerzone beyond the light
    and suddenly we are falling
But there ain't no stopping us now
I don't know if I'll be back tonight
It's just a machine inside of my head
and now all the wheels are turning
I'll think of the words we never said
and deep in my heart it's burning
But there is no stopping it now
    we're gonna make it somehow
    you wait tonight
and we're waiting for the light
Into the fire we will run
into the sound of distant drums
when you're walking alone in a dream
    on a highway to nowhere
    nowhere tonight

I'm not exactly an expert on that subject, but I think the one "flaw" it has (if it can be called thus) is that it's based on data, raised over a more or less limited period of time and a more or less limited number of cases. By analysing that data and adding elements of behavioral psychology, what we get is kind of an "average value" (for lack of a better word) which tells us that the AVERAGE murderer is very likely to commit their first crime in close vicinity of their home, as to secure swift and safe retreat. As time passes, they tend to operate farther and farther away from their home, but almost always still within a certain distance because if something goes wrong, it's very risky if the way back home is very long.

So, I think this tells us where Jack MIGHT have lived (if he had a permanent residence at all), but what exactly his first murder was is open to much speculation, so the information that the first murder might have been committed close to where he lived doesn't help much really
