Does anyone know if he'll be running his tour at the end of July/beginning of August and if one needs to book if there's a group of people?

Don Rumbelow has recently started doing tours again after a bit of a break. I saw him on Monday in Mitre Square doing his stuff.
Best check out the Original London Walks website for when he does his tours, though July/August is a long way off.
