Fantastic bw photos - I'd love to find a photograph a street like these if there's any still remaining !

I'm planning a short stay London trip for April or May this year and especially want to take part in one of the JTR tours around Whitechapel.
I hope to take photographs of the areas directly involved with the JTR case (after the tour).
I have Gunthorpe St earmarked as one of the places I would like to take photos of, but may I ask you and the group for your advice as to the best streets that convey the flavour of Whitechapel in the 1880's
that are linked to the case - such places with cobblestone streets and old style lamp standards, etc.

I realise by way of viewing the many excellent photos - old and new I've found amongst the pages on this forum,
that most places have changed beyond recognition.

Hi Steve,

Very little is remaining these days, one of my favourite areas is just North of Spitalfields Market. Folgate Street, Elder Street and Blossom Street are very reminiscent of what Spitafields looked like in the 1880s. Fournier Street, Wilkes Street and Princelet Street are also worth a look.
The area around New Road and Turner Street have a variety of old style house.
If you get the time it would probably worth setting aside a couple of hours to have a wander around.

Many thanks for your kind help regarding streets to visit around the Whitechapel area. I have made a note and will make the effort to find them and hopefully take some photos.
Your set of b&w film photos posted earlier today are excellent - just the sort of pictures I love most showing the old streets.

I think that 62 Hanbury Street would have been east of Brick Lane. Re: Barber's Yard, see p.21 of this thread.

Very nice photo. Was that taken in connection with Mr and Mrs Millstein's murders in 1911?

I think number 62 might still be standing.
