The window and metal work match up with the same area on Observers picture. Wonder if any of the unfortunates took any notice, or if they just considered it a way to pass the time.

Here's some photos I took last night.
Artillery Lane
Christ Church, Spitalfields
Commercial Road
Commercial Street
Durward Street
and again
Duval Street
Duval Street, same position as photo Colin took a while back.
Gracies Alley, Wiltons is on the right
Mitre Square
and again
Pinchin Street. You can't see very well in this photo but along the top of the arches are some blue lights which was very strange.
Shadwell New Basin
The George, Commercial Road
The Ten Bells
View from Wapping
Whitechapel Art Gallery and the Passmore Edwards Library
Whitechapel High Street
Whitechapel Road
When I was in Mitre Square last night I saw John giving a tour. Unfortunaetly I didn't have Jack's stealth as John saw me before I could sneak out the square.
Speaking of tour guides (and I use the term loosely in this case), I bumped into De locksley in Durward Street and he was with a group about 30 feet from the murder spot so I called over to him "alright John" and he replied "hello" and as quick as a flash I said "it's over there" pointing to the murder spot

^ Excellent! That one-liner is wonderful on several levels. Ha ha ha.
These are smashing photos, Rob, but you must stop walking around the East End on your own at night.
The first Durward Street photo - a fake in Photoshop, right? I say this as you're quite close to the ground.
PHILIPTour guides do it loudly in front of a crowd.

Daft question alert-
Am I correct in thinking that the photo's labeled Duval Street are of the street behind the White's Row car park? The one that used to be called Dorset Street? I've noticed this before and was wondering why you all call it such when I've only ever known it as Dorset Street. It doesn't even register on google maps but is that what it's now called?

Cubitt,
Since nobody who actually knows anything seems to be around at the moment, I'll answer this for you. The alleyway behind the car park has no name at all at the moment. In 1904, the name of the street that formerly existed there was changed from Dorset to Duval. People on these boards often use either name, as the mood strikes them. You can read more of the street's history here.

Nice pictures, as usual. I love the Shadwell New Basin."What our ancestors would really be thinking, if they were alive today, is: "Why is it so dark in here?"" From Pyramids by Sir Terry Pratchett, a British National Treasure.

Nice shots, Rob, as always. The White's Row car park had no lights that night - good job you had the bodyguard!
