  • Fantastic, John.

That's what so many of us are here for, social history.

Me, I've got no interest in murder, serial or otherwise, whatsoever.

Looks like a side elevation of a chimeny sweeps brush! Altogether now, "Chim, chimeny, chim, chimeny...."

            • ....

Some pics taken on april 11th, my first visit to the sites.

              1. Mitre square
              2. Mitre square from Mitre street (isn´t that stain, visible in both pics, quite unnerving? It was almost as if....)
              3. The white hart (me on the right, not me on the left.)
              4. the lovely Gunthorpe street passage

              Happy new year everyone!

              • Whoopee, first posts of 2009 on the nice thread for happy boys and girls. I went to the LMA today (my first time) and came back with some real corkers.

This first set will astound anybody who only remembers Wilkes Street as it is today, all gentrified and smart.

                Entrance to Puma Court, 1970.

                  • Fabulous pics, there, John. Apart from the box of spaghetti and the electric fittings, it's as if time had stood still in Hanbury Street for 84 years.
                    Kind regards, Sam Flynn

                      • Tolvis, Nice photos of the White Hart and Gunthorpe. No matter the time of day a photo is taken there, Gunthorpe looks creepy. Thanks for posting these.

John Bennett, Those old pix are fantabulous, sir. I just love the photos of #24, spaghetti and all. Thanks.

Keep 'em coming, folks. We love these pictures.

Is it just me, or was Spitalfields deluged by photographers in 1972?

Great to see Tubby still lurking in his stall outside John Colliers - Obviously 'the window to watch'!
Hey in that pic of the Ten Bells are the doors on the left hand side ,behind 'that car' or is the cough mixture taking it's toll again?
