John, help me orientate myself with this photo, please. Are we looking north or south? I had ancestors living at number 31 in 1857.

    • Hi Mark,

If I've got my bearings right we are looking North. The junction at the end is Quaker Street.

      Hi Suzi,

Did you get my new e-mail addy?

Just been checking the 1957 Berner Street pic. The first 3 storey building on the left is still standing. Here it is, and almost taken from the same spot as the old one.

                Hi Rob,

Thanks. I just meant it was in the general area. I should have been more specific.

Yeah, you get a real sense of the atmosphere, which is what draws a lot of people to the subject in the first place.

                        • Nearly forgot these. A couple of Angel Alley. As far as I can tell these were there in 1888

The building with red window frames was also probably there in 1888

                          • That dark base in the first Angel Alley shot is where I start all my Ripper tours (after meeting the group in front of the tube station).

Tour guides do it loudly in front of a crowd.
