    London map

Many people have probably discovered this mapping system, but just in case, here is the http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/print/#zoom=19&lat=51.5188&lon=-0.0757&layers=163&b=1"]link [/URL]:
It allows a user to fade a street map from the present to a chosen date.

This photo of John's Hill gives some idea of what Breezer's Hill, a little to the west, might have looked like when MJK was resident.

Imagine a fairly new wool warehouse taking up the whole of the western (right) side of the street, a pub (the White Bear) at the NE corner, and a former pub (the Old Red Lion) on the SE corner (79, Pennington Street). In between were just 4 small houses.

It seems most likely that MJK was at 79, Pennington Street, but nos 1, 2 and 3 Breezers Hill were also apparently brothels at one time or another.

The buildings in the background are part of the London Dock.

That's a great map, Bill, but the link was broken. Correct link follows.

              Kind regards, Sam Flynn

Between John's Hill and Breezer's Hill lay Artichoke Hill, on the corner of which old Ma Lechmere had her cat's meat shop.

Durward st, board school from Whitechapel station 09/2018

Slightly strange angle, too many roadworks or crossrail going on.

And why would you need to do that?

It's Wapping innit, the soft ground lets the pics tip over.
