Lechmere - Plans
Many thanks indeed for posting these larger sized files, Lechmere.
Absolutely fascinating and informative to view these.
Mr J McCarthy was a wealthy man indeed by the looks of the proposed rebuild plans!
Plenty to study here - and with dims for accurate scaling!
Best
Steve

I only copied some of the floor plans, and there are also block views (i.e. the setting in the road).
There are also detailed plans of the Blue Coat Boy Pub, and other buildings down the southern side of Dorset Street but further to the west (i.e. towards the City) and I think (from memory) 21 or 23 Hanbury Street.
I will try to check George Yard as there is some discussion as to the layout of the building and Bucks Row.
I have seen Berner Street but it didn't seem very relevant (i.e. too distant) but will double check.
There is nothing for Goulston Street

Here's a nice colourised Late Victoran/Edwardian postcard I acquired showing Ludgate Hill, the gateway to the East. If you look closely you might see Kosminski walking his dog (only joking). Apart from the railway bridge the view today is almost identical. I worked nearby for 20 years and enjoyed more than a few jars in the King Lud pub, bottom left.

Life Magazine Photos of Old London
Hi Stephen, I love the colorized postcard. Who needs rose-tinted glasses?
Here's a cool batch of photos of London from the Life Magazine website.
The link is: http://www.life.com/gallery/44681/im...640354#index/0
(Please note that the photos all have Life Magazine watermarks and sharing links are provided on their website.)
There are 56 old London photos at the above link, many Victorian or Edwardian. I picked some that I thought were particularly interesting and am attaching them in 2 batches. The 1850's and 1860's photos really fascinated me, but I'm baffled as to why in the c. 1900 bridge photo the side-car passenger has no motorcyclist...perhaps the cyclist took the photo?
Enjoy!
