I didn't look at The New York Herald for 1891 so I don't know. I would be very surprised if they didn't.
The first Mitre Square drawing is looking towards Rippers corner from roughly the entrance with Mitre Street. The light is on the corner of William and Co and then you would have Mitre Street and then the back of Tayler's shop. The light would have been added after the murder as it wasn't there in 1888.
