Just returned from an enjoyable weekend spent wandering around the east end with Gail Dowle and John Bennett, and thought I'd share some of the photos I took.
Four views of Blossom Street
...and a different view to the usual ones you normally get, of the old Board School building on Durward Street, taken from the cafe of the Ideas Store.
All the best

The Godfrey Phillips building on Commercial Street.
The arch at the southern end of Gunthorpe Street, adjacent to the White Hart pub.
Looking towards Itchy Park, from across the other side of Commercial Street.

Thanks for your comments. That particular shot was a six second exposure, so of course a tripod was used for that and indeed all of the night shots!

By way of my introduction to this thread may I first give my upmost appreciation for everyone who has already posted photos on here - there really are some excellent examples, both in terms of art and information. Particularly, but not at all exclusively, I would like to say WOW to some of Andrew Firth's photos, and I can see I am not alone in that. I am currently awaiting my copy of 'Past Traces' with baited breath - keep up the good work!
Anyway, I have quite a hoard of photos of my own in and around E1 and other locations related to the case, and I have finally decided to get some of them up. In the interests of giving space to others and protecting everyone's sanity I am going to do so in groups of 5 or so at a time, let me know what you think, and if anyone has any particular locations they would like to see let me know, I may just have some; I will almost certainly have other views of any locations that I post that particularly interest anyone.
Enjoy - or be patient!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Commercial Tavern, Commercial Street. Built in 1865. Allegedly haunted by Joseph Merrick 'the elephant man', who was also apparently once housed in its cellar. Quite possibly the pub into which Alice McKenzie and 'blind boy' George Dixon drunk shortly before her death. Four doors down (being no. 142) from the old Cambridge Music Hall at no. 146.
Thrawl St from Wentworth St, 'Flower and Dean Walk' visible in the background. Note the vagrants huddled together on the left - some things never change! Polly Nicholls was, of course, thrown out of the kitchen of no. 18 Thrawl St on the night of her murder, she had also stayed recently at no. 56 Flower and Dean St, Liz Stride also resided at no. 32 F&D St from 1882, and Catherine Eddowes met John Kelly at no. 55. Flower and Dean St. was also the location for Mary Kelly's alleged appeal to George Hutchison. All roads lead to Dorset St? I'm not so sure...
Graffiti, off Commercial St. The spire of Christ Church in the background.
I honestly can't remember which street this was. Wherever it is, the corner of Christ Church visible at the end of the street. Any ideas? It doesn't seem to fit with other views of either Fashion St or Toynbee St.
The former Whitechapel Working Lad's Insitute. Scene of the inquests of Martha Tabram and Polly Nicholls. Nightwatchman Patrick Mulshaw was stationed at the back of this building on the night of Nicholls' murder, seeing and hearing nothing except for the figure who passed him at 5am, declaring 'Old man, I think a woman's been murdered'. A waxworks show was located nearby at the time of the murders, capitalising on their notoriety.

The street in question is Wilkes Street which runs north to south, linking Hanbury Street with Fournier Street.
