    Hi Suzi,

If that collar number reads 402K he could be PC Croucher [Times, 7th January 1867], or PC Alexander Monro [Times, 24th November 1870].

If it reads 402H he could be PC John Manning [Times, 25th December 1884].

    Where did you find him?

    Regards,

    Simon

I took loads of photos from seemingly 'better angles', in February '07 and again in October '07, so as to be able to improve upon these - and include Buck's Row, as well.

I really should get around to doing just that!

Yes, absolutely brilliant stuff there Colin! I've always liked these overlays, particularly when presented along with those great Ordnance Survey / Google Earth combined maps!

            All the best

                  No problem at all Colin!

I've always liked the idea that even if a street or a building is demolished, and no longer exists, the footprint of that street or building can still be imagined in ones own mind. Your Google Earth / OS overlays help to visualise where things used to be, and are an excellent example of how modern mapping can be combined with traditional street plans to illustrate how things change over time. Your montages then help to visualise things from street level.

You should write a book about all this!

                  All the best
                  Andrew

You'll soon get the hang of it Gail!

Some nice detailed views of the church there. It's always tempting just to stand back on Brushfield Street and get the whole thing in one view, but here you've taken an original approach to capturing the architecture.
