Where is this?

I have this rather silly (but amusing) computer game called Mystery In London, which is vaguely about Jack the Ripper. Basically all you do is scavenger-hunt for items hidden in the pictures; the game's creators took photos of real locations around London.

This one... Does anyone know where this is? (The street sign doesn't seem to be a Photoshopped-in thing from the game, but I wouldn't know if it was truly relevant to the building's location or not.) The game calls it "Whitechapel Yard", which may or may not be helpful.

Mitre Passage


A load of old bollards and setts in Mitre Square.


The first time I've ever seen someone up on the roof of the board school building in Durward Street.


The familiar doorway in Goulston Street with the new widened pavement that Philip mentioned in the East End Watch thread.


The hoardings are up in Mitre Square, but no sign of the demolition team actually starting to demolish anything....

Andrew, what beautiful pictures... I particularly love the one of Christ Church, but also the tulips in Mitre Square -- colour me sentimental, but I can't help but smile that they're there.

This truly is a lovely thread, especially for those of us who are not living in the UK, and who need the occasional whiff of British streetlife and architecture to stay alert. I am very thankful that the opportunity to share in all of this remains just a click away.
