Some renaming and renumbering information for Bucks Row/Durward Street (I would say that in my experience Ordnance Survey maps lag quite a way behind changes on the ground) :-
Bucks Row, Whitechapel E. [<1810-c1892] [SMW] (D7) {58} <G63> “Buck’s Row, Ducking Pond Lane, Whitechapel Road. Part of the north side by Liptrap’s distillery.” Lockie, 1810. Although recorded by Lockie in 1810 the name does not appear on a map until 1830 referring to a terrace in the centre of the north side of Ducking Pond Lane. By about 1850 the name Bucks Row is being applied to the north side of Ducking Pond Lane from Thomas Street (Fulbourne Street) to North Street (Brady Street). There was an order dated 8/04/1864 which apparently renamed (all or part of?) Bucks Row as Great Eastern Square but both names remained in use long after this. There are three entries for Buck’s Row in the 1901 LCC volume, all in Whitechapel and all taken to refer to separate portions of the same place. One is described as “Part now Durward Street”, the second as “See Great Eastern Square” and the last as “Part now White’s Row”. The entry for Great Eastern Square, off Vallance Road, has “Change of name Buck’s Row 8/04/1864” and that for White’s Row (Whitechapel) has “Now Durward Street”. At Durward Street part of Buck’s Row is said to have been renamed Durward Street 12/10/1883, Plan 3166 but this is incorrect; it was a renumbering order instead. Bucks Row and Whites Row were jointly renamed Durward Street 25/10/1892
