I was simply pointing out what was actually said (and what was not said) in the press reports Phil and Jon referred to - in the Pall Mall Gazette of 7 May 1895 and the City Press of 7 January 1905. As for your question about the Seaside Home, obviously this has been keenly debated for more than 20 years. Personally, I doubt that it refers to the Convalescent Police Seaside Home in Hove.
