  • Lvp Cops Quiz

    Hi All,

Here's a quiz question. No prizes. Just the satisfaction [if you get the answer right] of knowing that you're a real smarty-pants.

What did Inspector Frederick George Abberline and Inspector Joseph Luniss Chandler have in common?

    Get Googling Guys and Gals.

    Regards,

    Simon

    Hi Simon,

What did Inspector Frederick George Abberline and Inspector Joseph Luniss Chandler have in common?
Many things I suppose. For example, they were Police Inspectors (obviously). You'll have to give us a hint!! Here's my (cough) stab in the dark...Is it that there is no known photograph of either men??

      Hi Nicky,

      No, nothing so rudimentary.

You're looking for something the two men shared professionally, but not at the same time.

      I hope that's enough of a clue.

      Regards,

      Simon

          Hi David,

          No.

          Something they shared as policemen.

          Regards,

          Simon

            Hi Simon,
I recall having read on old boards something about them... Abberline had sent Chandler somewhere... All this is quite confused in my brain...
            Time for the solution?

            Amitiés

I've racked my brain all day and come up with nothing (but then I'm thick as two short planks). Any more hints?

                Hi All,

                Here's the Abberline/Chandler answer.

At different times they were Sergeants in Y Division [Highgate].

What they had in common was that both men were Sergeant 24Y.

                Regards,

                Simon

                    Hi Jon,

It's not in any of the JtR books.

Abberline being Sergeant 24Y came from The Times.

I'll back-track and let you know the source for Chandler who, as a constable, was 202W [Clapham].

                    Regards,

                    Simon

                      Hi Simon,
                      Bravo.
Poor Chandler wasn't invited at the 3 Nuns for Abberline's retirement.
                      Would have he drunk everything?

                        Hi David,

                        Good call.

                        Was Chandler not invited?

I'll check and get back to you.

                        Regards,

                        Simon

                          Hi Simon,
I simply rely on ELO 11 June 1892, and there is no mention of Chandler amongst the guests.
Maybe he was forgotten by the jounalist.
Maybe he had been demoted before June 11, and that would be the reason why he was neglected.

                          Dähna hun, gwadegna!

                            Hi David,

Or maybe he was a deadbeat.

                            Regards,
