Seems like its already on a website and on Google images.
it says this about the picture...

Some of these late-Victorian policemen, lined up on the pavement and roadway next to a corner hairdressing saloon, have flashlights, presumably because they will be on the beat at night. This photograph is in a display cabinet at the Sherlock Holmes Museum, Meiringen, Switzerland

Interesting how limited their equipment appears. Only two lanterns and no definite truncheons. Wonder if Monty could add anything if this would be a normal squad kit level or if just for the photo?

Apologies just spotted a third lantern. Same question applies though

The clean-shaven, youngish cop at the center rear of the photo has something flexible rolled up and tucked under one arm. What is it? Map, perhaps?

Is that a truncheon handle on the left hip of the chap second from left (of viewer)?

I thought it might be a cape. The PC 2nd from right seems to have something similar hanging behind his left arm, perhaps tucked into his belt?

It looks very informal - no lining up in rows. Could it have been impromptu?

I would say they are Met. But I'm basing this purely on the shape of the helmets.

Yes I agree. I will blow an image up in a minute of the hat

I meant to post last night but I actually got totally side tracked looking at all the images and then ventured off to looking at mug-shots from Australia and America (as you do)
