  • Arnold of Arbour Square

Superintendent Thomas Arnold lived at 36 Arbour Square.
The row of houses that it was within was demolished to make way for a new Raines School building (one of the older East End schools, established in 1719) which opened in 1913 and still occupied the site.

The old Arbour Square Police Station is just down the road.
It is now converted to flats.

And literally around the corner is the old Thames Magistrates Court - also converted to flats. A place to be avoided by East End miscreants as you were always guilty no matter what.
The new Thames Magistrates Court is on Bow Road.
