Stewart Evans has posted an interesting selection of press articles relating to Anderson at jtrforums.com. One piece that caught my eye was an obituary from The Globe of 19 November 1918:
This includes a brief paragraph on the Whitechapel Murders:
Sir Robert claimed that his department really knew the identity of the infamous "Jack the Ripper," who perpetrated so many murders in 1889. "Jack," he said, "is a Polish Jew. The necessary evidence for his conviction is unobtainable."
It may be my ignorance, but this was new to me, though I have seen the final sentence quoted from the Daily Telegraph of the same date in one of Scott Nelson's dissertations:
What I found interesting is that - if the quotation is accurate - the use of the present tense implies that Anderson believed that the suspect was alive at the time he said this. That would contrast with Swanson's belief that Kozminski died shortly after entering Colney Hatch.
