Hello. In most on-screen and comic book versions of the Ripper case, it shows Inspector Fred Abberline and Sargeant George Godley working together, side by side as partners. Is this how it was in real life? Was Godley Abberline's #2 man? I do know he used to work in J division but then transferred to H, but were the 2 of them really working alongside together? If not, who was Abberline's closest confidant in the Ripper investigation?
