      Afternoon all,

      Hunting trophies, perhaps, related to the "blooding" of new fox-hunters - see http://www.icons.org.uk/theicons/col...nting-finished.

      As Jack only killed women, I think you can surmise that the removal of uteri signified a hatred of women especially as mothers. Obviously both men and women have kidneys, perhaps he really had progressed to cannibalism - animal kidneys and hearts are eaten.

      As for speed and working in the dark, I think speed in despatching animals was praised. My step-grandmother was much admired among the farming community for her ability to kill, pluck and draw (take out the insides of) a chicken in under four minutes. Not something I would care to emulate, I hasten to say.
