Or where is this name came from?

Because one of the five canonical victims was killed in august and august is not a month of autumn.

It comes just before the Winter of discontent....oh come on, someone was going to say it.

Whilst you are correct in stating Nichols was an August murder, it was the last day of August and summer. The rest of the murders, or rather the cannonical 5, happend during the autumn months.
