Sorry if this has been explored before, but does anyone know how the police reproduced the Dear Boss letter in order to ask people to compare the handwriting with that of others? Thanks.

There were various methods of doing it like lithography and one called hectography which if I remember the technique correctly, is the most probable way of doing it.
I'm no expert but I'm sure if you look on wiki etc there will be loads of info.
