  • Whitechapel Society Meeting Oct 4 2008

Lindsay Siviter will be giving a 20th Anniversary talk on the film ‘Jack the Ripper’ (Thames Lorimar TV) (1988, Great Britain/USA) which had Michael Caine as Inspector Abberline and Lewis Collins as Sergeant Godley.

The film was released in a blaze of publicity when first shown on British television in October 1988 and Lindsay informs us that after much interviewing, delving and researching, she will present new & exclusive material concerning the film production.

An evening not to be missed!

    Non-members always welcome.

Doors open at 7pm at the Aldgate Exchange, Whitechapel High Street

As this production is one of the most popular JTR tv and film productions ever, this sounds like one meeting that would be packed.

Lindsay to boot...wonder if Rob will be going? hmmm!

            Hi Frogg

You dont mean that Lindsay has managed to get Michael Caine to come along to the meeting?

Just to say thank you to Lindsay. She produced the biggest ever turn out of WS members.

And the surprises were David Wicks - Director of the film and Mark Daniel who wrote the accompanying book. We also had the main researcher - Sue Davis and the main camerman -who's name escapes me - my apologies.

Lindsay if still doing on-going research and hopes to track down the 'other 4 endings which were filmed'.

I would just like to thank everyone who took the time to come.

                Coral,

I have Marks book which, I must admit, I enjoyed more than the film.

It has the four endings as well as a glossary for the victorian rhyming slang of which 'letting go the painter' was my fav.

                  Hi Monty

Yeh - we all know that the book has four endings - Lindsay is trying to track down the four 'filmed endings' to the film. Which did happen - although some people have doubted their existence.

I'm one of the lucky ones - found out at about 5pm that David & Mark would be turning up so was able to get the other half to bring the novel up. I now have it signed by David, Mark Sue and the cameraman

Rob and I were on the tube back with them. They did notice us but walked right past. However, you could hear them from the other end of the carriage.

                      Who?

                      The four endings?

I hope anyone mentioning "The Four Endings" has signed the Official Secrets Act. I have, so I think I can get away with it.

The four endings. There, I mentioned them again.

And I've never even met Prince Charles.

                          Love,

Glad to see you are ok, Philip. At one point on Saturday night I thought you'd had a stroke.
