Under the old Sterling system in the UK and the Empire, it was pounds, shillings and pence, sometimes expressed as £ s d -- but why "d" and not "p"?

First to answer wins a specimen of the old coinage and a vintage postcard. To be fair to others, those who have won swag from RipperCon before can't answer. Good luck.
    Too easy that one.

A man from this island befriended a Ripper suspect. Who was he and who was the suspect? To be fair to others, those who have won swag from RipperCon before can't answer. And neither can researchers on the suspect in question.

If you are the first to correctly answer the question, you will win something nise. And it won't be half a kidney.

Very interesting answer, Simon! But no -- while "Helter Skelter" was referenced by Manson, the song itself does not mention murder. The correct answer is "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" which was guessed by a couple of people elsewhere.

Thanks for playing, Simon. Better luck next time.

    Chris

And talking of Christmas (the loot you could win, not the trivia question) --

Name the Beatles song that concerns murder and you could win a period Liverpool postcard mailed on Christmas Eve during Edward VII's reign to an address in Dingle, i.e., Ringo's neighborhood (postmark says "190..." with the end of the year incomplete -- c'est la guerre). Good luck. To be fair to others, those who have won swag from RipperCon before can't answer.

    Cheers

    Chris

Be the first to answer the question correctly and you can win a period postcard showing the park and another card of similar vintage. To be fair to others, those who have won swag from RipperCon before can't answer.

    Good luck!
