J Division Officers involved in the case.....

The Officers from H Division and indeed those from other Divisions (such as PC Long), who had an involvement in the Whitechapel murders are all well documented. Is there anything similar for J Division?

There's Insp Helson, PC's Neil & Thain. Are there any others?

George Godley, the man who was to arrest George Chapman for murder, was a sergeant at Bethnal Green (J Div) in 1888 and later was tranferred to H Division during the hunt for Jack.

According to the Police Review in 1900 Inspector Richard Webb of J Division 'took a very active part in the endeavour to trace the perpetrator of the Ripper murders in the East End.' Webb had worked for the Great Western Railway and been a sergeant in the Coldstream Guards before joining the police in 1873. By 1887 he was divisional Inspector at Bethnal Green.

That is, in fact, J Division in 1887.

Many thanks for that Simon, I'll certainly keep that for future reference!!!!!

Just out of interest, I don't suppose you've got a list of the rank and file officers that were stationed at Bethnal Green Police station 1881 - 1891?
