Single Event? How Early Could Jack Have Known About Stride?

Although I believe that Jack the Ripper more than likely murdered Elizabeth Stride, it is reasonable to take the other position. Here, I am starting with the assumption that Jack did not kill Stride. This thread isn't to debate that point.

How early could Jack have known about the Stride murder? Is it possible he could have known before murdering Eddowes or shortly thereafter? The Stride murder certainly may have complicated his route home, angered him, and could account for the GSG.

I’d say that the earliest time that he could (theoretically of course) known was just after the body had been found, a) if he was in the club when Diemschitz entered and told them about the body, b) a minute or two later if he’d either heard Diemschitz and Kozebrodski shouting “murder” as they looked for a Constable, c) the same time if he’d been present when Diemschitz told Spooner or d) around 5 minutes past if he was on Commercial Road when Eagle told PC Lamb.

Thanks, Herlock. I guess I was interested in knowing if word on the street had reached the Mitre Square area before or shortly after the Eddowes murder.

They did become aware of the Stride murder but I can’t say offhand at what point. I’m unsure if there’s any record of the actual time that they had become aware of it.

Long’s testimony from the inquest gives a possible timeframe:
[Coroner] About what time was that? - Three o'clock.
[Coroner] Having examined the staircases, what did you next do? - I proceeded to the station.
[Coroner] Before going did you hear that a murder had been committed? - Yes.
[Coroner]It is common knowledge that two murders have been perpetrated.
Which did you hear of? - I heard of the murder in the City. There were rumours of another, but not certain.

I’m sure there are other sources attesting to the time but that’s the first that springs to mind
